GARDEN/FARM PROGRAM

​*During the Covid-19 pandemic closures. LHEF continued to fund our dedicated Garden Instructor. 

​

LHEF funds La Honda Elementary's unique garden/farm program, led by dedicated garden instructor, students learn about healthy food and ecosystems in an outdoor classroom garden they grow themselves. FoodLab incorporates those vegetables into a hands-on cooking program that provides a healthy snack for the after school program.

ART IN ACTION

*Covid-19 could not keep our Art minded students at bay! This program continued through online learning thanks to a dedicated LHE staff member. ​

​

The Art in Action Program enriches the lives of La Honda Elementary students each year through an engaging, hands-on curriculum that teaches art history, art appreciation, and art techniques. Offered to Kinder - 5th grade students.

Fieldtrip - 5th Grade

FIELD TRIPS

​*On hold during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are working to find ways to engage students safely. 

​

LHEF provides funding for students to go on field trips such as to the California Academy of Sciences, Natural Bridges State Park, the Exploratorium, S.F. Symphony, Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Seymour Marine Discovery Center.

CLASSROOM  & PHYSICAL EDUCATION SUPPLIES; AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

 

*LHEF continued to provide funds to our teachers and staff during the Covid-19 pandemic closures and online learning sessions.

​

LHEF funds teacher requested grants

for supplies and resources in classroom; direct funds for a teaching aide and requests for equipment used in physical education sessions. After school programs like Yoga and Art are also funded and taught by local teachers.​

PRESCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM

 

Although some may regard art education as a luxury, simple creative activities are some of the building blocks of child development.
